Our Story

In 2019, a dream came to life in Roanoke, Virginia. That dream belonged to Marina Trejo, founder and proud owner of Dream Dance Studio. Born in Mexico and raised in Florida, Marina grew up surrounded by a rich blend of cultures that shaped her love for dance and community. Her journey began at just seven years old, and since 2012, she has been teaching dance and inspiring students of all ages.

Certified as a Dance Instructor, group fitness instructor and personal trainer, Marina is known as “She Who Dances with Joy.” For her, dance is more than movement—it’s about helping others find confidence, connection, and happiness. In 2021, she was recognized by the Latinas Network as a Latina leader and role model, especially for young girls.

Dream Dance Studio is the first and only studio on the East Coast specializing in Quinceañera choreography, and the proud creator of two groundbreaking teams: Dreamers International and the region’s very first *Mexican Folklore Dance Team. From Quinceañera celebrations to dynamic dance classes in both English and Spanish, Dream Dance is a place where culture, movement, and community come together.

At its heart, Dream Dance is more than a studio—it’s a home where dreams are celebrated and a legacy of joy is built one step at a time.

MEET OUR TEAM

Saheli Vilchis Trejo
Dance Instructor & Choreographer

Born in Arcadia, Florida, and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, Saheli Vilchis Trejo is a proud second-generation Mexican American whose passion for dance was deeply influenced by her mother—a dancer and studio owner.

Saheli began her dance journey at the age of 8 with ballet. Though financial challenges paused her formal training after a year, her love for movement continued as she explored karate and played competitive travel soccer.

Her passion for dance was reignited when her family opened Roanoke’s first dance studio dedicated to Quinceañera choreography. At 14, while preparing for her own Quinceañera, Saheli began choreographing and assisting in the family business. With her mother as her mentor, she developed both her artistry and teaching skills.

Since 2022, Saheli has been teaching and choreographing professionally, creating meaningful performances for individuals and groups. In 2023, she founded Dreamers International Dance Team, Roanoke’s first ensemble to showcase global dance styles at community festivals and cultural events.

Saheli’s journey reflects her dedication to preserving culture, celebrating diversity, and inspiring others to express themselves through the art of dance.

Miguel Mendoza
Folklore Instructor & Cultural Educator

With over 20 years of experience, Miguel Mendoza is a passionate dancer and educator who refined his craft during more than five years of training in Mexico. Since 2009, he has taught a wide range of traditional dance styles, notably sharing his talent with the Catholic Church of San Gerardo.

Miguel has earned recognition through awards such as second place in Oaxaca’s regional dances and first place in Huapango Tamaulipeco. His repertoire spans traditional dances from Veracruz, Chiapas, Jalisco, Nayarit, Tamaulipas, and more.

In 2023, Miguel co-founded Roanoke’s first Mexican Folklore Team in collaboration with Dream Dance Studio, where he now serves as the main folklore instructor. He also leads special folklore workshops at the studio, inspiring dancers of all ages while promoting Mexican culture at local and regional events.

Dance Team Instructor & Choreographer

Born in Colombia, Andrea Milena Arenales Julio brings a wealth of experience and passion as a cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance coach. Her journey began in 2013 at the Institute Nuestra Señora del Pilar, where she discovered her love for teaching and mentoring students. Since then, she has coached at institutions such as the Cooperative College of Bucaramanga and New Cambridge College, helping young athletes build skills in cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance.

Andrea has choreographed dynamic routines for interclass competitions, blending creativity with technical precision. She is also specialized in hip-hop and cheerleading fusion, inspiring both athleticism and artistic expression.

Since 2024, Andrea has been a proud member of the Dreamers International Dance Team, and she now leads the team as Dance Team Instructor at Dream Dance Studio. With her energy, creativity, and dedication, Andrea inspires confidence, teamwork, and growth in every dancer she coaches.
